The Role

We are seeking an ambitious and entrepreneurial problem solver with experience in business development and project management in either the technology, finance, or professional services industry to join our team. From business development and account management to growth strategies and project management you will be tuned into – and directly impact – every key area of the business. You will need to have a strong sense of ownership, a bias towards action, and a relentless drive to achieve consistent results to excel in this role and propel yourself into a leadership position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist the China CEO in developing growth plans, creating business development opportunities, and engaging with key stakeholders (local and foreign) across China.
  • Generate qualified leads, pitch solutions, develop proposals, and manage key accounts.
  • Take the lead on various market entry projects, and assist the global COO in the project management of more complex market representation and financial advisory projects.
  • Facilitate meetings between local and foreign stakeholders; directing the flow of the meetings to ensure smooth communication cross-culturally, clarifying and emphasizing sensitive issues, and ensuring that no pertinent information is lost in the process.
  • Embed yourself into cross-border innovation and investment communities across the Yangtze River Delta,  enhance your personal network through thought leadership, and champion the Serica brand at key events.
  • Conduct market research and analysis, provide reports and assist in the development of market entry and growth strategies.
  • Help craft compelling proposals, presentations, and other key marketing assets to present to key local and foreign stakeholders.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to Serica leadership based on strategic insights and client needs to help augment our solutions, project management practices, and operational effectiveness.
  • Prepare and circulate regular reports on key accounts, projects, and other initiatives.
  • Native Chinese speaker with working proficiency (or higher) in English.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a business or technology-related field.
  • 5+ years of commercial experience in business development and/or project management in either the technology, finance, or professional services industry.
  • 3+ years of cross-border trade or investment experience with demonstrable experience of understanding and adapting to Western business culture and practices.
  • Result focused with a strong bias to action; able to multi-task, confront new challenges and find solutions with confidence and creativity.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – with the ability to explain complex ideas, pitch compelling value propositions, deliver presentations and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
  • Detailed organizational and analytical approach, able to conduct research, analyze information and understand complex new concepts with speed and precision.
  • Highly tenacious self-starter, able to work both independently without close oversight and as part of a tight-knit multi-cultural team.
  • Sector expertise with an active network in either healthcare & life sciences, clean energy, automotive & mobility, software & platforms, digital commerce, or finance.
  • (Highly preferred but not essential) 3+ years in a leadership position with the ability to effectively train and manage a team to maintain high standards and produce outstanding work.
  • (Highly preferred but not essential) Previously worked in the USA or the UK for three years or longer, ideally in the technology, finance, or professional services industry.
  • TOTAL PACKAGE: of ¥150,000–300,000. Including,
  • SALARY: A competitive annual salary of ¥120,000–240,000  (dependent on experience).
  • ANNUAL BONUS: End of year bonus equivalent to approximately 25% of your annual base salary.
  • COMMISSION: Uncapped sales commission between 5 and 10% for any business you generate.
  • PROFIT-SHARING: 10% share of each project you work on.
  • ANNUAL RAISE: Salary increase of 15% per year throughout your Serica career.
  • RAPID CAREER PROGRESSION: Tailored personal development plan, monthly training, and continual mentorship to enable you to be promoted to Associate Partner within your first 18 to 24 months.
